Like a good writer and translator, a good interpreter knows that language is about more than just words: it is about communication. It is about nuance and being finely attuned to the circumstances in which he or she is working at any given time. It is about keeping a necessary distance and objectivity while at the same time being present and involved. It is about professionalism and setting aside one’s personal feelings about the subject at hand.

In the past ten years I have undertaken numerous interpreting assignments. My clients include the Commissioner of the Icelandic Police, the City of Reykjavík and the Council of Europe. I am always open to interpreting assignments as I find them fascinating and enjoyable.
