… the editors of DV, obviously. So we can now get back to more pressing matters, like bringing you pictures of cartoons brazenly ripped off from Blaðið.
TOM JONES ENTERTAINS RICH ICELANDERS
… Was the headline on the evening news a few nights ago. The report went on to say that a bunch of Icelandic neuvaux riche had held a New Years Eve party in the lobby of the National History Museum [sic – really sic] in London, complete with dinner and entertainment. [They meant The Museum of Natural History, obviously. Didn’t contact YT for proofreading, obviously.] Providing the entertainment was one Tom Jones, who I understand is now Sir Tom Jones. [Only the best for the Icelandic neuvaux riche.]
Why anyone would want to eat dinner or have a New Years Party or indeed listen to Tom Jones in the shadow of a dinosaur skeleton is beyond me. But never mind. What totally cracked me up was the cartoon in Blaðið yesterday.
… So reads the caption, and the underwear being tossed is marked with the names of Iceland’s major overseas entrepreneurial firms. Plus, if you look closely, one pair with hearts, marked with the name of the Minister of Culture. She was there, too.
But the scariest are definitely the soiled KB Bank ones. Ugh!
MEANWHILE, WE’RE BACK TO WEATHER
Quel surprise this morning when we got up and looked out the window – The Unit was naught but a large pile of snow with four wheels inconspicuously sticking out the bottom. Yes, It Snowed last night. Took me 15 minutes to dig The Unit out so I could ferry AAH to school – she couldn’t walk, obviously, she’d get her feet wet [or so ran the argument]. It’s an absolute Winter Wonderland out there now – for how long remains to be seen, but we’re enjoying it while we can. Temps are -1°C and sunrise 10.59, sunset 16.14. Great strides forward!
