As expected, today we have resignations en masse among teachers. Daily activity in the schools is still in utter chaos, with some teachers showing up, others not, and those who did show up reportedly feeling like crap because they’re betraying their colleagues. Plus many of them feel that they don’t have support in the community and that everyone hates them.
YT is feeling kind of bad for calling the lot of them immature yesterday because, as previously stated, I can understand their fury. Eight weeks of protest, with the accomanying wage loss and emotional/mental anguish, only to be ordered back to square one by Those in Power. Hell, I’d probably rebel, too!
AND THE QUESTION OF THE DAY IS – WHY BLOG?
It came up in conversation this morning and a minor discussion ensued. Is it self-expression, a desire to be heard? Is it a one-sided transmission – contact with the world on one’s own terms? Is it escape from intimacy – communicating at a safe distance? Or a way of showcasing one’s abilities? Or shameless exhibitionism? Or a desperate bid for approval?
Have reached no definitive conclusions. But am pondering.
HAPPY NEWS FROM SWEDEN
According to Morgunblaðið this morning, Swedish fair trade authorities have demanded that oil companies over there be made to pay hefty fines due to price collaboration. Apparently a raid was conducted in 1999 which turned up some foul business practices, all of which sound highly familiar!
THE WEATHER
Winds from the east, temperatures –2 to –6 Celsius. Slight cloud. May snow later. Sunrise was at 10.01; sunset set for 16.23.

Don’t feel bad Alda, you said “Instances of immaturity” and of that we can all be guilty. And it’s true.
As for exhibitionism? I am so tempted myself to set up a blog, every day since you set up yours.
It seems to be a speakers corner where everyone is comfy.
It’s getting out your frustrations and a release of tensions, maybe with some new complimentary one created the moment you push ‘post’. And that must be an exciting moment worthwhile in itself.
A bid for approval ? Maybe, but you’re doing it knowing you might not get it. So I don’t think thats it.
How about just a good feeling of accomplishment, knowing that your thoughts are in black and white, and that in itself is tangible.
Don’t anylise it to death, Alda. Just keep on bloggin’ !
